How it works
1. Pick a site

2. Copy the coordinates
The easting and northing, each with its own copy button, in the Irish Transverse Mercator grid landdirect.ie searches by.
3. Look it up on landdirect.ie
Proceed as a guest, open the Coordinates search and paste them in. The folio number is free; a plain copy of the folio is €5 and a certified copy €40, from Tailte Éireann.
What we never do
See the owner
You buy the folio from Tailte Éireann directly. Precedent never sees it and stores nothing about who owns what.

landdirect.ie is the State’s register. We send you to it rather than harvest it.
What it can’t tell you
Knowing where the data runs out is part of using it. Here is where this does.
- Precedent holds no ownership data. Nothing on the site tells you who owns a site.
- landdirect.ie has no link that opens a plot directly — its map needs a guest session first — so the coordinates are pasted in by hand.
- A folio names the registered owner, which may be a company, a trust or an estate rather than a person.
- Fees are set by Tailte Éireann and can change.
