I, JOHN MULLANEY, intend to apply for planning permission for retention of existing dwelling house and all associated works which differs in plan and elevation from that permitted under PL 74/4703 at BALLYWEELIN, ROSSES POINT, CO. SLIGO, F91FK26. The development consists of an EXISTING STRUCTURE TO BE RETAIN WHICH SERVES AS A RESIDENTIAL SINGLE FAMLY DWELLING WITH ALL ASSOCIATED WORKS. Original application was GRANTED for a stepped level two-storey design with large open terrace on both ground and first floor levels overlooking the large garden to the rear (South) of the dwelling house. This design was then simplified once construction began in early 1974 to a more conventional two-storey design to allow for better heat retention and energy efficiency. It was felt at the time of construction the stepped level design would lead to large flat roof areas over the ground floor bedrooms which would be difficult to heat and result in high energy costs. This was the only primary reason for the design change. The second significant design change was the removal of a spiral staircase for a traditional straight flight of stairs between ground and first floor.
