The proposed development involves the installation of a new air emissions abatement system to replace the existing, outdated unit. This upgrade is necessary to ensure compliance with Condition 5 of the facility's waste licence (Ref: W0055-02), which mandates the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from site emissions prior to atmospheric discharge. The current abatement unit is no longer capable of maintaining VOC emission levels within the limits specified in Schedule B of the waste licence. The installation of the new system is a corrective action required by the Environmental Protection agency (EPA) to address this compliance issue.
