develope at this site: a programme of conservation works and re-purposing to office use of the station Buidling at platform 2 Portarlington Station is a 'Protected Structure' RPS 143, NIAH RefNo. 12800502 The proposed programme of conservation works would be intended to follow on the current 'Phase 1 - programme of roof and rainwater gear conservation led repairs & restoration work & ground levels restoration around the perimeter of the building and platform area' for which a Section 57 of the Planning & Development Acts Declaration of Exempted Development has been made by Laois County Council dated the 1st November 2019. The proposed developments consist of; 1) a programme of conservation works to the existing external and internal structure & fabric of the old Station Building at Platform 2 and immediate outoffices, 2) a re-construction of the single-storey cellular accommodation at the eastern side of the Station Building - to include some new build interventions - configured to provide toilet accommodation, plant space, waste management space and a small open-air yard for plant and rear access, 3) re-purposing of the Station Building, along with the reconstructed and re configured East end accommodation, to office use primarily for Iarnród Eireann-Irish Rail personnel, 4) staff & visitor car parking to include vehicle E-charge bay, 5) below ground level domestic foul effluent holding chamber & pumping station with rising main (63 mm OD MDPE) to convey domestic foul effluent to the east end of Platform 2, traversing under the railway lines northwards, then westwards on the far side of the North platform and railway siding discharging to an existing foul effluent manhole in a works area on the north side of the Station within the curtilage of the property (which in tum discharges by gravity to the Irish Water main sewer at Station Road), 6) associated site works and hard & soft landscaping, etc..
