development which will consist of the upgrade of existing path to create access road for anglers, new car parking with access barrier, new angler access stands along the Southwest Bank of Athlone Canal and all associated site works. Athlone Canal is located within the northern boundary of the River Shannon Callows Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and the Middle Shannon Callows Special Protection Area (SPA). An Appropriate Assessment and Natura Impact Statement have been prepared and will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application.
